Arizona Indian Gaming Association

MISSON OF THE ARIZONA INDIAN GAMING ASSOCIATION (AIGA)
The Association is committed to protecting and promoting the general welfare of tribes striving for self-reliance by supporting tribal gaming enterprises on Arizona Indian lands. Speaking on behalf of its member tribes with one, unified voices, AIGA serves as a clearinghouse and educational, legislative and public policy resource for tribes, policymakers and the public on Indian gaming issues and tribal community development.  This organization is deeply committed to maintaining and protecting Indian sovereign governmental authority.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Arizona Indian Gaming Association

PURPOSE: To support the AIGA Executive Director in day-to-day operations and in the development and implementation of the Association’s strategic plan and policies.

TASKS:

  • Preserve and protect the integrity of gaming conducted in Arizona and Indian country
  • Interface with the Executive Director and support staff on daily basis to ensure open communications and continuity of effort within the department
  • Assist in day-to-day operations of the AIGA office
  • Interact with AIGA entities, such as but not limited to, other AIGA departments, federal, state, tribal, city and local municipalities, businesses, associations, attorneys, etc.
  • In absence of the Executive Director, has full delegated authority
  • Gather and provide technical assistance relating to the gaming industry whenever such assistance benefits the common interest of the AIGA Members and the Indian gaming community at large
  • Coordinate, schedule and conduct meeting with entities who interact with AIGA
  • Disseminate information to the gaming community, the federal, state, tribal and local governments and the general public regarding issues in the conduct and regulation of gaming in Arizona and Indian country
  • Maintain, protect and advocate Indian Tribal sovereignty
  • Supervise one support staff
  • Travel overnight and work weekends, if required
  • Generate general correspondence and computer reports
  • Compile data to prepare monthly, annual, and special reports
  • Function in an open, fair, consistent manner with supervisor, peers, and subordinates to foster a sense of teamwork and minimize internal conflicts
  • Other duties as requested by the Executive Director

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Have knowledge of Tribal Government or Tribal Gaming
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills
  • Be computer literate in programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and e-mail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, safeguard of information and adhere to AIGA policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform routine and complex administrative work with demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in delegated areas of responsibility
  • Able to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments of the AIGA, federal, state, tribal and local agencies, contractors, other interested parties and the public
  • As requested, must be responsive and available to Executive Director via e-mail and cell phone before and after regular work hours and during weekends

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

  • Must have three to five years experience in working with Tribal Government, especially Tribes with a gaming enterprise
  • Bachelors of Science degree in a related field will substitute for two years experience
  • Must possess a current Arizona driver’s license and be able to meet the AIGA insurance standards
  • Must be able to pass a full gaming background check

PAYRATE: $50,000 - $60,000 Annum depending on experience

BENEFITS: AIGA offers full health and dental benefits and 401K pension.    

POSITION STATUS: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
